DAWN BREEZE - VISUAL ARTIST

Artist Statement

I love observing untouched nature; there is a “greatness” that exists in its inconspicuous and overlooked normality.  I am fascinated by nature’s exquisitely complicated abstract design, where each detail is unique and of equal importance to the whole picture. My work exposes such existing beauty.

My work begins from memories of places I’ve visited and the feelings impressed into my psyche. These visual emotions guide my first mark and from there I am a process painter; I enjoy being led by the medium. I believe in my work as in nature there are no natural mistakes; every creation is sacred and organic.  Using layers of wax, oil, crayon, inks and various other mediums, I demonstrate a state of flux, multiple realms, and transcendent feelings, which suggest a natural process.  I am interested in marks as expressions of time:  reflecting life’s continuum, devolving toward or evolving from nothingness, devoid of judgment.

Bio

Dawn Breeze grew up on Martha’s Vineyard, MA.  After Pratt, she went on to pursue her interest in fashion, by accepting a prestigious position for Catherine Malandrino.  Spending five years in fashion, working as a Fashion Editor and Photographer, she moved to Hudson, NY to open her own boutique. Inspired by the surrounding nature, enamored with the vast sky and lingering light, she returned to painting. Dawn Breeze now works as a full time Fine Art Painter, she’s happy to be included in the new and growing movement of “Hudson River School Painters”.  Her work may be seen regularly at her gallery, ‘Dawn Breeze Painting Studio’, in Hudson, NY.
